Multimodal Pain Management

The American Pain Society (APS) has proposed the use of multimodal pain management strategies to treat chronic pain and overcome the dangers of opioid addiction. This strategy of pain management is reported to be successful in many patients particularly during or after orthopedic surgery and has minimal side effects.

Radiofrequency Ablation

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), also called rhizotomy or neurotomy, is a novel non-surgical technique of treating pain. This technique employs radiofrequency waves to produce heat and the heat produced damages the nerves transmitting pain signals to the brain.

Spinal Cord Stimulators

A spinal cord stimulator is a device that sends electrical impulses to the areas of the spinal cord causing pain and interferes with the transmission of pain signals to the brain.

Peripheral Joint Injections

Peripheral joint injections are injections administered into the joints of the limbs such as the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and joints of the hands and feet. They help diagnose and treat joint pain and inflammation and improve mobility.

Epidural Steroid Injections

An epidural spinal injection is a non-surgical treatment option for relieving back pain. Your doctor usually suggests a non-surgical method to treat back pain, and epidural spinal injection is one of these preferences. In cases where you find no relief from this and other non-surgical methods, surgery is recommended.

The technique involves placement of a small electrical device or electrodes along the course of the peripheral nerves, found outside of the brain and spinal cord, to manage pain.

Botox (Migraines and Dystonia)

Botox is a type of purified protein synthesized from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox injection or Botulinum toxin injection is administered through a fine needle into the treatment area and works by blocking the action of certain chemicals that induce muscle contraction or spasm and relaxing the contracted muscles.
